Good morning my homies and welcome to the blog! It’s a rainy morning here in Elizabethtown and super damn cold outside! Still, I’m so very thankful to have this time to share and catch up with all of you. Now that the holiday madness is really over I hope everybody didn’t go bankrupt buying all those presents and food.lol. Life is certainly keeping me on my toes and I can’t wait to share with all of you what’s been up so let’s get into it!

First, off ya boi has hit a new low of 476 which feels great because I think I have moved my damn set weight finally, thank goodness! This is an all-time low for me and I’m thankful for the results on the scale but I still need to measure because it’s been a long time since I have done that! The key to my recent fat loss has a lot to do with amazing weights my girl bought me during the holidays! My routine is so easy with the gym in the house and my body is starting to look forward to lifting after work every day I work. So the routine goes like this, on days I work I fast the whole day at least 20 hours and then when I get off work I lift before I break my fast! On my days off I have 2 meals and still hit the weights but I try to also do my stretching and Yoga plus Qi Gong! My routine is very ambitious but it feels amazing and I’m really stretching myself!

Work is going really well and it is affording me a great workout! The constant fast-paced and demand has got my stamina getting better and better! Not only that but I’m starting to really do a great job with my own standards which are always higher than what anyone else puts on me. Sometimes I get caught up with the money and I forget I took the job to get in better shape and the money was a distant second! For what I do I feel like I make really great money for the time I spend there. When I first started I was just dripping with sweat and couldn’t keep up with my standards but now I’m right on pace and doing a better job of keeping my stamina high! Trust me when I tell you that this job is far from perfect and there are a good amount of things that really suck about where I work but the awesome part is my job allows me to be off to myself and do my thing which I really love! It’s about getting better and better and all the drama about the job well it just is what it is but it doesn’t make me any less grateful, I just put my head down and grind because I’m only there long enough to get me to the next level of my life!

On the diet front I was getting into that Keto boredom you may have heard of. Well, let’s be clear every single way of eating gets boring after a long time. The key and this is what I have been doing lately is to get back to cooking all those favorite meals that I loved when I first started Keto. For instance, these Keto waffles I got poppin in the picture above! I forgot all about these bad boys until I saw someone on Instagram talking about them. They so bomb and so damn easy to make!

4 eggs/2 tsp of vanilla extract/2 tsp cake batter extract/4 oz of cream cheese(soft)/tablespoon of sweetener use a blender to blend those up for a few moments!

Then add 4 tablespoons of almond flour and peanut butter powder(optional) and blend again until you get a fantastic waffle batter and that’s it! put them in your waffle maker and I’m telling you for like 7 net carbs a waffle you will love these and keep it so Keto with sugar-free syrup or cool whip! Try them and let me know what yall think! Oh, and I made some baked chicken with cheese and had a ghetto chicken and waffle low carb feast.lol

Lastly, I am so very thankful to my friend Juliecares! She is amazing and has been supportive from day one! Check this out, she knows how hard I have been working and she sent me a jersey that is too big for her because she lost so much fat so that I could use it for inspiration! It’s like a 2xl and it’s gonna take a long way before I can wear this awesome shirt but the point is when people believe in you it makes all the difference in the world! She has nothing to gain by doing this for me but to be a blessing and I can honestly say that I am humbled by her generosity! That’s how we make a difference when we do things just to be a blessing to someone else and It makes me hungry and motivated to be able to fit that jersey! Thank you so very much Lady!

Real Men Adjust

Screenshot_20181213-060551.jpg

Hello everyone and welcome to another fantastic and motivating Thursday morning, I absolutely love Thursday yall! It’s starting to get close to the weekend and all the people around this house seem to be in a great mood knowing it will be time to relax and examine again. This weekend we are celebrating Christmas with my fiance’s family and it will be a true blessing to see everyone and come together as a unit. My fiance’ is also having here craft show coming up this weekend as well so things are very busy around here so I figured I would get up early and hit this blog before the time gets away from me. Grab your coffee and let’s have some fun!

Screenshot_20181213-060508.jpg

Work is proving to have it’s up’s and downs. I forgot how many different personalities you run into when you are in a work environment. My new soon to be boss and I don’t really see things the same and I think that in order to make things work I’m going to have to take an approach that allows him to be the manager he is going to be. My mission at work is simple I just want to do my job well and get a fantastic workout in the process, the money has and will always be the 3rd reason for me and I realize that just being able to say that is a blessing! We don’t always have to get along but in order for there to be peace and productivity, I’m more than willing to sacrifice my ego a bit. It just is what it is but I must admit I’m not the type of person who doesn’t like another person but this dude is pushing it.lol. Some days I have to remind myself that I am the luckiest man on the planet to be where I am and living the life I get to lead and whatever may go on at work just isn’t as important as what’s not at work. Having said that people can truly drag on your patience sometimes and when that happens I usually take a moment of pause and remember why I’m here, what’s my mission and is it worth the time to feel anything that doesn’t produce results at work. So this is me getting it out and getting my focus right!

My Keto lifestyle has been fairly predictable of late. I’ve been all about my baked chicken and fine cuts of beef along with sunflower seeds and coffee. Lately, because I realize the holiday food is going to be coming I have just been plain and steady with my eating, keeping my carbs zero or to a minimum and drinking a ton of water! I wish I could report that I have been trying a lot of new and exciting recipes but that is just not the case and won’t be until next week when I start looking into some delicious Keto Christmas recipes! Hopefully, my blog will have more great and delicious pictures filled with foods I successfully made from my kitchen next week!

Screenshot_20181213-060632.jpg

You know how you don’t really feel hungry so you just don’t eat? Well, I had this happen the other day and I just stayed hydrated and didn’t have any food at all. It’s been about 34 hours now and I know I won’t eat anything until after work today. It seems that whenever I get this way I can change my bodies set point to be lower and lose a good amount of weight as long as I follow 2 golden rules. First, I have to stay super hydrated to keep my body from getting too fatigued and second I have to get lots of salt, magnesium, and potassium or all the fat loss will just come back on when I start eating again. Going 48 hours with no food isn’t that hard for me because I have so much reserve fat for my body to use for fuel! Hell based on that with my size I could fast till Summer.lol. Not to worry all of you know that I will still be having my coffee fix and because I’m fasting for a little longer I will probably give myself a treat and have sugar-free creamer instead of black. I’ll be weighing in Friday or Saturday and rest assure I will let you all know where I am!

Try to find a reason to help someone today for no other reason but that you can and I will do the same! We all can and do make a difference if we choose to and I challenge you all to be the kindness today that you want the world to be like! By the way, don’t forget to love yourself and give yourself praise and worship on an hourly base. You are going to be with you all day so be nice and give that kindness to yourself first and then spread it to others, that’s the win-win! Have a great Thursday and enjoy the coming weekend everyone!

Carb Crush!

Screenshot_20181112-060013.jpg

Good morning all and welcome to another glorious Monday! I had a really great weekend with the family and now I’m ready to get back into work week mode. The temperature is dropping to really really cold outside and with the lower temperatures the cold and flu season is sneaking up on us. Please be careful and safe this winter as it is projected to be one of our coldest in recent memory! Let’s get started, shall we?

While I had a great weekend I did have a few candies and other treats that are not part of my planned eating formula. Sometimes chilling at home can put you in a state of free fall, it’s like you sit and watch movies and television and you look up and realize that you had a bag of chips or M&M’s in your hand.lol. If you’re anything like me then you know that this kind of behavior is simply old habits coming back and trying to get comfortable.lol. Habits have been programmed for years and years and sometimes they are so embedded in our minds and thoughts we are unaware of just what the hell we are doing! That certainly was the case with me this weekend and the weird thing is I wasn’t really craving anything sweet or carby at all it just kind of happened. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t binge or anything but, to be honest, my low carb was high carb for a meal and a half! Someone like me, who has a massive case of insulin resistance can gain 10 to 15 pounds in a few days. It may just be water weight but in reality, my body just doesn’t respond well to sugar and carbs!

Screenshot_20181112-055906.jpg

Part of it is that I have been low carb so long my body freaks out with a rush of carbs but mostly I believe I just have a crazy insulin response to certain food that’s much more drastic than other people. Knowing your body is so very important because the same food in one person’s body can affect a different person’s body completely different! The key for me is to write down what I was thinking and how I felt, go over my why’s for eating a healthy diet and then letting it go. The worst part of any bad eating isn’t the food itself but the emotional toll that we can level onto ourselves for making a mistake. It’s important to move on and try not to make the same mistake twice or at least limit the number of times you make that mistake. The biggest step is to get back to what you are and what you are striving to be because you are creating new habits and after awhile those habits will take you home! So I’m good and ready to start this Monday off right with my already scheduled 3 24 hour fasts, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Screenshot_20181112-055629.jpg

I’ve got about 2 more weeks at my current job and then I will be transferring to another place within the same company, it’s even on the same block so very easy for me! I’ll be working a bit more hours than I have normally but it’s a lot more money and a position that suits my talents better. I’m very excited to be starting yet another chapter on this journey and I pray I will really love and appreciate the next phase! We must continue to test and push our lives forward so that we can say that we truly lived and I believe in my heart this move pushes me forward so wish me luck.lol

This weekend I recorded another podcast and I think I am starting to get the hang of it but it’s a lot of work in an area I admit I absolutely know nothing about! It’s that nervous excitement that makes me try so many different things because growth is scary and wonderful all at the same damn time, that’s just real! In my heart, I know so many people have or are struggling with Obesity and related issues that I must do something to help. My journey can only be aided by helping other’s relate because I am dealing with this every day myself! I have found so much strength in other’s that has truly allowed me to carry on and move forward in a healthy and positive way. I see it as an honor and a responsibility of mine to help as many people as I can feel like they have a friend who understands their plight! It’s so true that we all really are better when we work together as a team and I’m thankful to be a part of this one!

If you are reading this you are a part of a team and I am grateful for your loyal support and time. In my heart, I know that you could be doing so many more things with your day so the idea that you have let me be a small part of your day is fascinating to me! It’s something I will never ever take for granted. Whatever your goals and dreams are, get back to making them happen today, put a plan in place and go get it because you never really know when your time is up and you no longer have the chance. The only thing worse than living with regret is dying with it in my humble opinion! The world needs you and what you have to bring to the world, don’t let us down!

Thank you so very much for reading and have a great day!

Beyond Me

20181107_045431.png

The middle of the week is here so fast it seems! Welcome to the blog, I hope everyone is doing great and living their best life this morning! One of the many blessings I am thankful for is coffee in my cup this morning, it just feels right when I get that first drink after my morning water bottle. So while I am very thankful for the taste I am also mindful that many people don’t get the chance to even have coffee time in the mornings because of their busy lifestyles! I’m glad you are reading this today and I truly appreciate you this morning!

So far this week I have made really good money at my job and the place has been packed because of the voting going on this week! I’m not super political but I’m always happy to see people so passionate and engaged about things it just brings more energy to the day! The great thing about it was I got a great workout at work, I mean I really pushed myself to go all out and give all I had and I’m grateful that I was rewarded with awesome guest and wonderful conversations. The scale has been trending in a great direction lately and I’m very enthusiastic about that there!

Screenshot_20181106-151419.png

This week I’m fasting all week doing 18/6 which I love because it’s simple and easy and basically when I go to work the time flys! It’s just not my thing to really eat at work because I get really tired and worn out so when I’m doing an 18hr fast it’s cool because when my shift is over and I get home I can eat some bomb low carb foods! This week so far I have had hotdogs with no bun, a few pieces of bologna and baked chicken. My snack of choice this week has been pork rinds and by that I mean my side dish because I’ve been going zero to low carbs this week. I had plenty of carbs when I went to Cali so I feel like I can get super low on the carb scale this week. It’s all about having a plan my friends that way at least you have a little direction and you can hang your hat on the fact that you have done all you can to get to your better.

Screenshot_20181107-045601.jpg

Speaking of fat loss, I am thrilled to announce that I am officially 483 as of this morning which is my lowest weight to date since I’ve been an adult I believe.lol. I’m very happy that I am starting to get back to shrinking to my goal weight and progressing at a steady pace. I credit my fat loss to the fact that I have an amazing family who loves and support me and also to the idea that I can and will be in the best shape of my life this coming season! My chips are on the table and I’m certainly all in on improving my body so that I can be more present and engaged for the people around me. Getting better every day just feels right and even though there will be setbacks they don’t have to define the struggle they are just part of it! It’s lofty but my short-term goal is to get to 450 before the 22nd of January. Why that date you ask? Well if you have been following my blog you know that the 22nd was the day this year I first bought my scale and if I get to 450 that will be a few pounds over 100 pounds lost since I’ve bought it! That’s more than 30 pounds in 2 months but I’m shooting for it because it’s my life and I’m about dreaming big!

The next few days I will be working on my podcast about battling obesity and I hope you will find time to check it out, I believe it will help anyone who struggles with their weight or knows someone who does. I’m scheduling the release of my podcast every Saturday for now until I learn more about what I’m doing! It’s hard work but very exciting to dive into these different topics as well as share things that I have learned thru research and life experience. Big Boi Koncepts will be my main focus as far as bringing value to others in the form of dealing with obesity for the next 14 months. That’s the name of the podcast by the way.lol.

Screenshot_20181107-045646.jpg

I’ll let you all in on a little secret the best thing I have done recently is develope a morning routine designed to improve my inner self. I start off the day doing Qigong and stretching because I am the most unflexible human being in the species I’m sure of it. Next, I have been doing about 10 minutes of meditation followed by going over my goals and aspirations for the day as well affirmations. Folks this stuff is very powerful because not only does it keep you focused but it serves to embed your deepest and most treasured outcomes in your subconscious! Did you all know that scientist believe that up to 85 percent of what we do comes from our subconscious? To be completely transparent I’ve never even truly thought about my subconscious, what it is, what it does, EVER! It was just a word I heard people on television use but there is some powerful science-based evidence that it plays the most important role in our actions on a daily bases. I guess I’m just super late to the party but at least I’m pulling up and getting there! Keep getting to know yourself better homies, you are certainly worth it!

Screenshot_20181107-045520.jpg

Since it’s the middle of the week I challenge you to start today and find someone to bless this week! I’m not talking money or gifts but anyone who you can be of service too. Maybe the guy who delivers your Amazon Package or a Barista at your favorite espresso cart! Pay for someone’s breakfast if you’re grabbing fast food this morning, lend someone your favorite novel, anything that lets someone know that you’re here to serve!

Have a crazy and joyous Humpday and get yourself happy, it’s on you!

42’s

Screenshot_20180827-075514.jpg

Good morning everyone and welcome to the blog! I am waking up feeling blessed but a little tired because I have been wrestling with bouts of insomnia! The other night I was up all night and into the next day and that’s just not like me so even though it’s not clinical it certainly feels like insomnia.lol. last night I slept pretty well but it’s like I am still catching up and I could use about 4 more hours! As most of you know sometimes you just don’t have that extra sleep time and you got things you need to get done! So enough of my complaining and moaning let’s get this thing off!

Screenshot_20180827-075606.jpg

This past week I worked out 3 or 4 times and while that’s pretty good it’s a failure for me because I planned to workout at least 5 times! I just have to adjust to life so that I keep my commitment to myself and get my work done! I can’t front I was having a hard time getting up early and getting my workout in.lol. Even though my fitness watch says I burned more calories this week I still feel like I could have done more. It”s crazy how I really have set such high goals for myself but in order to get this done my goals have to be obese! This week I have my 3 days of cardio at work and I will try to get 4 lifts in this week as well so hopefully, I will report better progress in this area next time. I need to do a better job of getting up early because I have been going to bed earlier so I should feel rested and ready to go. Working out is a small weapon in the obesity fight but it can be powerful in the mental department, I certainly need that energy in my life!

On the diet front, things are going great and I have finally broken this crazy fat loss stall I was having! It’s really funny because when doing keto your suppose to do moderate protein but any time I up my meat intake I seem to always lose the fat! So lately I have been eating a lot more meat and fish will healthy fats and that seems to be doing the job so thank god!! It’s funny that I have been eating fewer veggies and that has helped me lose a few pounds as well which is strange! I recently bought the green super drink Organfi and so far it’s very good tasting and minty plus it seems to have a ton of healthy greens and turmeric so I’m thinking of relying on this drink for a while and see if it helps. Other than my large salads I’m not a big vegetable guy but I am well aware of the importance of having them and I’m slowly coming around to adding more and more. I’ve been doing the whole smoothie thing to get my greens in however I am aware that it’s important to have fresh whole greens! Hopefully, I can join the whole food plant based diet one day and make that what I do for the majority of my life but right now it’s hard for me to give up my delicious meats! I love the meats!! My plan this week is to make some cauliflower mash potato casserole with bacon and cheese as well as maybe a broccoli or cauliflower soup I’m not sure on the second dish of the week yet. I really need to have an all vegetarian food day in my regular routine.

Screenshot_20180823-083919.png

This week on the fasting front I’m doing 3 42 hour fasts because they have been very instrumental in my current fat loss of late. Since I don’t eat on my work days anyway this fasting regiment seems to be the most effective for me. The only time it’s really difficult is when I get off of work and I’m super tired my body starts thinking it’s hungry and hits me with a really bad craving! My tummy gets all load and demonstrative like I haven’t eaten in 10 days but once I get over that one I’m good because I get to eat the very next morning.lol

That’s the blog folks I wish you a wonderful week and a very inspiring journey today! If anyone needs anything or any support I got you!

The Light

Screenshot_20180815-063317.jpg

Don’t be shocked but I’m writing again in the same week!.lol. The idea that I am even up is a miracle because I was very tired this morning and 3:45 seems to be coming faster and faster every single morning. The things we put ourselves through to get to where we want to be huh?! It’s my life and I’m in charge so I got off my ass and got out of a perfectly warm bed! I’m happy to say that I am feeling a ton more energy now that my coffee is brewing just yards away from me! My routine is coming into form and while I have so much to improve on it’s a step in the direction I have chosen! Good morning to you and blessings to the things in your plan that are driving you this morning! You can and you will! Let’s get started:

Screenshot_20180815-063456.jpg

Today was an early morning meeting with my stationary bike and it certainly woke me up! This is the first of 2 cardio workouts I have planned today with the other being when I go to work later this afternoon. Getting up early means you get a great jump on the day but it’s certainly not for everyone, to be completely honest it didn’t feel great for me this morning either but it’s getting easier with every alarm! I can’t tell you that there is some magical advice about getting up and going to the gym or your basement where you put in work, all I can tell you is you feel better once you start sweating and breathing harder. The process sucks sometimes and if you think it won’t then hey your winning but for me, it can be. The only truth is you absolutely can’t get to the goals you set if you don’t do something, some form of action has to be taken to get you closer and for me, it’s the gym! Today I did 30 minutes of the bike and I pushed along a little more than I did Monday, that was my goal and now that it’s done I’m confident I will win the second half of the cardio later at work! Can I be completely honest? I’m scared every single time I go into that job because I have doubts that I can keep up or that I won’t do a great job, it just is what it is but I have to keep going because of the goal to be great, a greater version of myself!

Yesterday I had a really yummy plate of stir fry I made with boneless, skinless thighs and mixed veggies and it was amazing! You all know how I feel about simple and easy recipes and this one was elementary! I just sauteed some thighs in delicious avocado oil and steamed some mixed veggies from Sam’s club and mixed them together with a little tangy homemade sauce I made from ginger, wor sauce and a little honey! I know that honey isn’t very keto so I used a very small amount on a really large amount of veggies(like 3 cups of veggies!) so I’ll take it! Instead of talking about every meal I eat I think I will just highlight my favorite meal I had of the week and for this week that stir-fry is the winner hands down because it was filling and delicious plus very healthy! The key to any diet is finding meals that are delicious so that you will stick with it even when you aren’t thinking about it!

So as I have said before my family and I are doing these electronic curfews with our phones and stuff in favor of spending more quality time together and preparing for the following day. So far I have really enjoyed getting off my phone by 8 and not even looking at it till I get up at 4 a.m. The time has allowed me to prepare for this day coming up as well as meditate and get better rest. The key for me is a good ole fashion routine I can get used to doing every day no matter what and I like where this is headed for all of us. I’m a gadget guy and I absolutely love cell phones and all their features but I’m learning to love ME more and the process of what makes me tick, so that means putting the device down and working on my own software download if that makes sense.lol. I’m really proud of the kids because I know it’s much harder for them but they seem to be doing a great job of executing our new plan!

Screenshot_20180815-063416.jpg

If you guys get a chance you should check out this guy Light Watkins on Youtube for meditation, I have been really amazed at how simple and easy he makes the whole process and I hope to be a pro at it soon! I really like the idea of giving myself time to relax and get into a better feeling of consciousness. If you have been thinking of trying it I highly recommend this dude, he really seems to embrace the realities of meditation and allows for more freedom and flexibility!

Oh and 1 last thing I have decided to do my podcast once a week every Saturday morning so be on the lookout for that if you think you may be interested! Big Boi Koncepts!  My podcast is everywhere podcasts are heard and soon to be on Apple podcast as well! I would love your feedback and input and I know I can be of service! I love you all today as much as every day and enjoy the HUMP yall!

Routine

Screenshot_20180813-062109.jpg

Good morning and happy Monday! I know I have been missing in action for a week or so but I am happy to report my hiatus was for a great cause! I want to say to each and every one of you who are reading this post that you are worthy and valuable beyond measure and I am honored that you have given me your time today! This time I haven’t had my coffee yet but I am hoping to grab a big healthy delicious mug as soon as we are done! Let’s get started!

The new job has been very challenging but also very rewarding! My body has been sore and achy from all the walking and running around serving and helping the team. It has been every bit of what I have expected and then some. My feet have been hurting to the point I have taken some Ibuprofen just to feel a little less pain and while I hate to take that stuff I am finding that it has helped on the days that I work. Since my job has been my cardio I have only been lifting weights at the gym but that all changed this morning! Today I got up at about 4 a.m and hit the gym for a little 30-minute ride on the stationary bike to get in a little morning exercise. My hope is that I will be able to wake up at this time every single day and make it my new routine. Sometimes I’ll lift weights in the morning and sometimes I’ll do some cardio but it is my plan to go at least Mon- Thursday at the minimum. I’m praying that this will help me sleep better as well as perform at a high level in different areas of my life!

My diet has been the same with the exception of having a few more carbs than I usually have. I don’t think I made this decision willingly I think I have just been focused on so many other things that I haven’t been as tight with it as I normally am. Still focusing very much on the quality of the foods and not as much on quantity, but I try not to go too far away from my 2500 calories a day. I don’t meal prep as much as before but we all make dinner as a family and that really has been fun coming up with ideas we all like that are healthy. Along with my daily coffee, I have been trying out a new green powder to get in my greens on the regular. I will certainly leave a picture in this post for you all but I am still trying to decide if I can really tell a difference since I have been using it. The price was less than 20 dollars and I had read so many great reviews I had to give it a try. I will say this, early on I’m really loving the simplicity of throwing the scoop of powder in my water instead of blending my regular green monster! The taste is about average but I’m not very good at rating taste because I have been told that I can stand strong and maybe questionable flavor in the name of a healthy option but for me, it’s very easy to drink but it is by no means delicious in my book.lol. It’s called Terra Origin green superfoods and it contains just about every single nutrient I was looking for in a green smoothie plus it does blend very well! I found it on Amazon and you all know I don’t do affiliate stuff yet but if your looking for an affordable supplement that is packed full of cold pressed healthy nutrients it may be worth your time!

The reason I have been in and out as far as blogging is because I have been researching and developing some strategies in other areas of my fat loss journey such as meditation and fasting. You all know I have been fasting for a while now but I have recently been looking into meditation and the data that surrounds it! O.k I’m a nerd about research but that’s just my thing and I have found that the more weapons I have to battle the better. Today was my first day meditating and I’m just getting my feet wet but I am extremely curious about the subject! Part of being healthy is having balance and surely the mind is a key in that balance! So, for now, I am committed to doing some light meditation a few times a day to exercise my meditation muscle. I absolutely love learning new things and I will certainly write more about this in the future. As far as fasting, I have been doing alternate day fasting for the last 2 weeks while working and I have decided to change it up this week and do 18:6. I’ve learned that my body gets used to what I am doing and it doesn’t seem to respond the way it does when I change it up so here goes another change. I’ll probably eat between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m on most days and then on the weekend, I’ll probably stop eating after 2 p.m depending on what we have going on.

The podcast has been taking a good chunk of my time lately because I have been trying to develop which direction I want to go and how to get things together. Right now I don’t have an intro or music and at the moment I am simply stepping out on faith that this is something I have always wanted to do! Now the work begins because I am in the process of organizing my ideas and finding my voice if that makes sense. Big Boi Koncepts Big Boi Koncepts! is certainly a labor of love and has taken a ton of my time although I have only done 2 episodes I am in the process of adding new content and shows all the time!

Last but certainly not least I have been working on my routine. The honest truth is I have been going to the gym and eating a lot better over the last year without a serious routine! I have just started really looking into having a set of things I do every single day to develop myself and for the most part, those have only included health and eating. I have read that we are all creatures of habit and that we are no more than what we repeatedly do. That’s so very powerful for me because I have been consumed with fat loss that I haven’t been focused on all the other things I want to do with my life. I’m working on a routine for sleep, a routine for my soul’s progression and a routine for my inner working so that I may have balance in ALL areas of my life.

That’s all I have for today. I am in the process of developing a schedule for my blog and website and the podcast so I promise I will get my act together and be more consistent and informative about my whereabouts! I love you all and I believe in each and every single one of you! Have a fantastic day and go be the best YOU ever today!

My Body Knows What It’s Doing!

Happy Saturday to everyone and welcome back to the blog! It is a beautiful and sunny day here in Elizabethtown and it is slated to get up to 92 degrees today, damn! Right now, however, it is the cool crisp morning air that we all love so well and the birds are up singing and harmonizing and I have a huge cup of coffee to get the day started right! Today is my mother’s birthday and she is the most amazing and loving human being I have ever known and I appreciate her more every year I am on this earth, Happy Birthday Momma! Let’s get into it.

Yesterday I had a really nice workout and the great thing is I added my shoulders into my workout with chest and triceps so I’m really excited about the new growth potential because my shoulders need work! The entire routine was about 40 minutes or so but I pushed it and did the best I could do, plus I fasted as I am now and those workouts are the best! My gym has opened the outside pool so while the parking is a little more packed the gym itself actually is a little less crowded so I’m able to get to just about anything a lot easier than when school is in session. It’s weird how sometimes I sweat super bad and other times I don’t as much even with the same type of intensity, I really need to do more research into this! Anyway, my workouts are coming along just fine and I am still rotating between walking and days at the gym. Sometimes I’ll take a day off and other times I just keep going every single day, I just try to listen to my body and not my mind because my mind still tries to find a way not to workout.lol. It never fails that while I may have to talk myself into going to the gym and walking I have yet to feel bad about it afterward! In fact, I always feel amazing which makes it that much more frustrating to fight with myself about going in the first place, I mean I made the goals so I need to follow the plan.lol

Screenshot_20180616-092726.jpgScreenshot_20180616-092134.jpgScreenshot_20180616-093027.jpgScreenshot_20180616-093027.png

My diet has been really exciting lately because not only have I been trying new recipes but I have been fasting really well lately! Typically I eat between 2500 to 3000 calories a day but with my recent alternate day fasting I’m only really feasting every other day a basically so I’m giving my body time to rest and properly digest my food as well as time to burn stored fat! I’ve been doing keto and low carb for awhile and the most powerful thing I have discovered in my journey is fasting! It’s not even close because when we eat is just as important as what we eat! This makes sense but for an obese guy like me to truly understand this way not only eye-opening but it completely changed the way I view eating. Now I feel less worried about how much I eat and focus more on the times I’m not eating and that has made all the difference in the world! In a feed state(eating) you are basically not burning fuel you are storing it, when you fast(not eating) you are burning fuel, it’s just that simple! Think about how powerful that is, if you give your body time it will run out of stored glucose in your liver and have no choice but to start burning fat storage, that’s what it’s there for, it’s stored for later when you are not eating because the body doesn’t stop using energy ever! We are energy using machines and once we learn how to control which energy we use it really changes the conversation from calories to energy, from calorie restriction to Insulin restriction and that my friends is why my diet has been so much better. Now I understand that I don’t have to be perfect with what I eat I just have to be aware of what certain foods do to the hormones that regulate fat loss!

So with this new found information and the information is ancient it’s just new to my brain, I am continuing to push the boundaries of my own limitations as it concerns losing body fat and being a healthier man. The fasting aspect is completely saving my life every single time I use it because it is allowing my body to do its job and keep me healthy, it’s my job to listen and participate but it is the job of my body to regulate my health! In better terms, I just need to get the hell out of the way and allow my body time to do what it was designed to do. It was designed not to simply keep me alive but it was designed to operate at an optimal level! The body knows what to do, my job is not to muck it up with a lot of things that don’t belong inside of it. The greatest thing is even when I do put horrible things in sometimes it performs the proper procedures to get that toxin out of my system! Information is power my friends and if any of you have any questions about anything please feel free to ask!

Have a fabulous day and I wish you love and happiness this weekend!

Fasting Muscle

Screenshot_20180613-121543.jpg

Happy hump day homies and welcome to my blog one more time! I’m so very thankful for all of the people who take the time to read and follow along this journey with me. The middle of the week crept up on me this time because I’ve been so deep in research and studying that I lost track of my days.lol. I hope you all got some coffee or tea or even a nice glass of wine because it’s about to go down!

Yesterday was a feast day so we made some delicious KFC/KETO version original recipe chicken and it was amazing, although I should have added more pork rinds it was my first attempt so I will have time to tweak it later on! Then, we made my fiance’s bomb low carb chili and lemon bars for dessert. When I say these lemon bars are amazingly delicious I am not kidding around I was completely surprised because of anything with almond flour taste so damn dry to me, however, this recipe was easy and delicious so you already know I’m going to use this one whenever I need to indulge responsibly! I’m telling yall I found me a winner with this new Erythritol I bought on Amazon and if it doesn’t hinder my fat loss it will be my sweetener of choice from here on out! It does have a cooling taste to it but I found when you bake with it that taste goes away, especially when making a crust! I’m giving it a month to see how my fat loss goes while consuming this alternative so I’ll get back with the results but so far I have checked my glucose levels and found that it doesn’t raise my insulin at all! As you know I have been eating off of that taco bake I made earlier in the week so we are really enjoying this meal prepping routine! I still need to find a nice topping for these Lemon bars because while the cool whip was good it wasn’t great so I may try halo top next time I eat to see if ice cream works better! Yum, Yum and more damn Yum.lol

Sadly I didn’t make it to the gym yesterday like I planned and I will admit that every time I change how I fast it takes a moment to get back into my lifting routine. I’m not particularly sure why but it has been a struggle to go lift lately, walking, on the other hand, has been my preferred workout lately and I am certainly building my stamina in that area! The best routine for me is at least 4 times a week lifting but I have been doing more like 2 at the most! Truth is it makes little sense why I can’t do it all considering I don’t have to work right now and the kids are away for a month, so I need to catch back up for real because I can’t use having more time to myself as an excuse not to work out harder, DUH!

Screenshot_20180613-121620.jpg

I’ve decided to up my calories on my feasting days because I have been getting super hungry on my fasting days which is weird because typically hunger comes in waves and I know how it works for me. Usually, I get a huge wave of hunger 3 hours after I feast and then another around the 24 hour mark, I mean I can set my watch by that but lately I have been hungry for longer periods of time even though I am doing the same thing which is drinking tons of water, a couple cups of coffee and if hunger gets worse a hot cup of chicken broth. It’s been fairly easy to do this routine but this week I have been hungry from the 24hr mark on and it doesn’t stop until I go to bed.lol. I did a little research and what I found was not getting enough calories on feast days just makes fasting days seem like an uphill battle and counterproductive, see I’m not trying to starve myself I’m trying to give my digestive system a break and allow my body to utilize stored fat to power my body! This is a lifestyle for me and while I will surely adapt different fasting protocols from time to time, my intent is never to be walking around hungry all the time! I know that’s just not sustainable for the long haul and ya boi is not trying to go backward. My next bit of research with be looking into supplements that may give me a boost to get my workouts in so that I can burn more stored fat on my fasting days.

That’s it for me today, I plan on hitting the gym since I am fasting today and tomorrow get a nice long walk in unless something comes up. I’m a routine type person so I really need to get my flow in the gym back and that’s my focus this week now that my sleep and eating seem to be on point! Persistence over perfection and consistency over intensity all day everyday ya heard me? Have a fantastic rest of the week and I will be back soon, as usual, I am always ready and willing for anyone who needs help or an ear to listen to their journey, the struggle is real but so is our power and together we will get there!

One size fits all

Screenshot_20180608-101055.jpg

Hey everyone welcome to the blog! It’s Friday and I just returned from a great walk at my favorite park, thank goodness it was a cool morning I figured it would be super warm.lol. Today, I’m grateful to be awake and enjoying another glorious day! While I was walking I was sweating my ass off but I was determined to make it to my goal point. It’s crazy how much you can do on an empty tummy because I used to be so scared to do anything without eating first! Now, I feel like it’s a great advantage to do fasted workouts and cardio and certainly from a physicals standpoint! Let’s get into the meat real quick!

20180607_152906.jpg

I’m starting to get the feeling that I’m not completely healed from being addicted to sugar, maybe I never will be. The other day we had a cheat meal and I promise you my scale said like 11 pounds up.lol. Now, I understand that was water and all but I also know that body weight fluctuates, still the truth is it’s Friday and I’m still just getting back to my under 500-pound mark. It’s so crazy how much sugar and carbs affect my body and hey I’m not complaining there are much bigger problems in life but I hope that one day a brotha can eat some keto friendly snacks and not gain a whole bunch of damn pounds! It’s just the way it is for me, it took all my life to mess up my metabolism and it’s going to take a long time before I fix it! My diet has been on point yall. Still doing only 2 meals no matter what day it is and the early dinners have really changed the game for me! Every day I drink at least 2 cups of coffee, plus a ton of water with magnesium and potassium supplements to help throughout the day. At this point, it’s getting to be routine and I’m loving that I don’t have to worry about what time or what I’m going to eat. The meal prepping and time restricting has really taken a load off of my shoulders! What a blessing!

20180608_101446.png

The cool things I’m starting to really love is the way it feels when I put my clothes on, I mean my clothes have always been rather baggy but now they are damn near falling off and I need to go buy new stuff! Even better. it’s cool to sit in my truck and not have the steering wheel all up on my tummy.lol. I was doing some side by side comparisons today and even I can see a huge difference. People always tell you things like that but until you can tell it just sounds like people are being nice or trying to encourage you to keep working out and eating better. Results make it all worth it, especially when you know you are doing it the right way for you. I’ve always gone to gyms and worked out at work or any gym I could be a member of but once I figured out that I was just eating all of the benefits that changed everything for me.lol. Keto is certainly not for everyone and to be honest neither is low carb but eating a balanced diet is and being aware of how certain foods affect your goals is a one size fits all way to look at it in my opinion!

Today I need to clean the crib and run a few errands but above everything I need to wash my damn truck, it looks nasty and dingy so I better get to it! You all know that if you need anything please feel free to ask or leave a comment I’m here if you need me, have a fantastic day and a productive weekend fam!
