For You Are Worthy

Well, it’s Tuesday and the long weekend has come to an abrupt end! I hope you all had fun and enjoyed your days off from work. Today is going to be an amazing day because it’s a short work week and the kids in my house get out of school for the summer this week! Of course, this day also means you get another shot at those goals this week and I know you all will be up to the challenge! It’s your life and the outcome is entirely up to you and the choices you make. You have the power to make today your best day and tomorrow even better! Let’s get started, shall we?

Screenshot_20180529-055439.jpg

I have 4 hours left on my fast, I haven’t eaten since Sunday night! Actually today I am cheating a little because I usually stop eating daily at 3 p.m. but last Sunday it was well after 7 p.m before I started eating that soup I told you all about! Oh well, it will technically be more like a 38 hour fast but hey I’ll make sure I have my last meal at the right time this afternoon and get back on track! My fasting schedule is really simple and if you want to know more please don’t hesitate to ask, you all know I’m a big fan of helping out if I can! Right now I’m slow cooked shredded chicken thighs and broccoli that I will later add bacon and cheese too and break my fast with a delicious casserole! The whole casserole thing has been a big advantage for me because I can make a large amount of it and have it for multiple days or double it up if the kids don’t get to it. lol. I typically just throw it in the slow cooker the night before I break my fast then get up and add the finishing touches to that bad boy the next morning! Plus, it’s cool because I get an idea of the macro breakdown long before I start feeding, which is key for my fat loss journey! If any of you have a recipe that’s Keto or low carb that you want to share feel free I’m always looking for more ideas! Teamwork makes the dream work right?

Above is what I like to call ” The calm before the cheese” lmao!

Today it’s back to my usual gym schedule now that I had no problems with my last lift and the soreness in my lower back is completely gone! I’m doing my walk and then I’ll break my fast before I hit the gym today to do back and biceps, I like mixing the fasted workouts up. Sometimes I’ll lift fasted and other times I’ll do cardio fasted but I haven’t decided what my main routine will be as fair as the fasted workouts yet because the jury is still out on if they are optimal for me. After the gym today I will be watching a live video in one of my support groups and then getting some writing done. I’m in the process of getting my new blog up and going as well as starting my Youtube channel(maybe) so either way, I have tons of writing to do today.  Like I stated before the kids get out of school this coming Friday so I need to make sure we all have a great week and get all our stuff done so we can get ready for the summertime! Next week the kids will be leaving for a month to stay with their biological dad for about a month and then they come back and take a trip up to New York City! They are so very excited and I wish I could go but I took my THA GET BACK!! to see my other children a few months ago. We decided that this would be a very important time for their mom to spend this last little bit of time with them alone before they get so busy being grown.lol. They deserve it and it should be a blast for them!

Lastly, I’ve heard it said that tomorrow is not promised but let me take it a step further, nothing in life is promised or guaranteed and it’s important to remember how blessed we all are for the little things. We only get interested in our blessing when we no longer have them and I think that’s a shame! Don’t wait for your car to get broke down before you appreciate how blessed you are to have a whip to drive! Let your loved ones know you are thankful that they got out of bed this morning and that they are apart of gods continued blessing to you! look at yourself in the mirror and truly take time to appreciate all the things that make you who you are! It’s very important to change I AM CHANGE but it’s so very important to love who and what you are at the moment, self-love is a process too and you have to work at it by continuing to give yourself praise! You are worthy of praise for waking up this morning!

For going to work when you feel like sleeping in!

For being of service and a blessing to others

For having a mind, body, and spirit that walks this earth’s surface

For the time you take to appreciate what others struggle with and sharing that burden

And most importantly For just being your damn self and walking around being YOU!

Have a magnificent day out there today!

Hello everyone and happy Memorial Day to one and all. I would like to say thank you to those men and women that have served this country and laid down their lives for my good! Also, anyone, who is actively serving as well I would like to extend my sincerest form of gratitude and say Thank you for all you do that allows me to do what I want to do! I understand it’s a holiday and your all probably chilling and grilling somewhere but if you have a moment I’m glad you spent some of it reading my blog!

Yesterday wasn’t a gym day for me but I was able to get some errands ran and relax. My body has been feeling amazing lately with all the new and improved goals I have set recently! One of those goals is to have nothing that’s not Keto until July. Typically, I allow myself at least one cheat meal or cheat day a week but that’s all gone for now. Also, I have decided that I will be checking my blood sugar regularly so that I can see how my insulin is affected by certain foods! Ketone levels aren’t very important to me although it is the name of my way of eating so I purchased a Keto Mojo to check both blood glucose as well as Ketone levels. First I should be clear, a glucose meter is not necessary for everyone eating a Ketogenic diet, not even a little bit. It is an individual tool in the bag to use if you want to have it then you should! Why did I purchase one? It’s simple, people always talk about what breaks a fast and what doesn’t but until I do my own research I don’t really know what breaks a fast for me. It’s all about the data and I love the numbers so I figured it could only help me to stay focus and be more informed. Like I have always said it’s not anyone’s fault for receiving false or true information but it is absolutely your obligation to yourself to find out what is or isn’t true in your eyes. Research is a big part of my fat loss journey and I have found that the more I’m aware of things the better decisions I will make. Even if I don’t make the smart choice every time at least I knew what I was doing and I didn’t just follow what someone told me on the internet or the cafe. A little independent research can go a long way in getting to know your body and how it is affected by the foods and beverages you consume. Lastly, I made a goal to be more understanding of what others around me are dealing with and be of service more. If anyone needs any help or just needs an ear during their journey I am certainly available and willing to help!

We did an awesome thing last night, we made cauliflower soup in the slow cooker and using my new immersion blender and it was so amazing! Not only do I love the new blender but that soup is easy, delicious and super Keto! I found the recipe here Cauliflower soup from THE Pinning Mama. Now, I don’t know this woman personally but I plan on giving her a huge hug if I ever meet her because this soup is fantastic! I needed a hearty meal before my first of 3 42 hour fasts this week and let me tell you this didn’t disappoint! She even broke the macros down for ya and everything!  I broke my fast yesterday( I fast about 17hr on non-extended fasting days) it was with some delicious turkey bacon and 3 of those delicious Johnsonville cheddar stuffed sausage and coffee! All and all one of the best days of eating I have had in a while! The family and I finished off all the soup and I know for a fact I will not make it again unless I make a double or triple batch next time.lol

Today is official weigh in day and I posted that I was 510 yesterday but actually the scale said 509 this morning so we will go with that! I am very excited about this new way of fasting and eating and I am more than happy to help anyone who needs help because so many people are helping me!

Please be safe today and enjoy your free Monday! At least for those who don’t work today and for those that do, you know it’s o.k for you to enjoy today too just later when you get off. lol

The Decision to change

Screenshot_20180519-122106.jpgHello and happy Saturday morning to everyone! I have been super busy lately but I wanted to drop in and see how everyone was doing! It’s an overcast day here which is fine because it has been super hot here in Ky. lately! Don’t get me wrong I’ll take this over snow and rain every day in a heartbeat! I pray that you all have been doing well and chasing your dreams. I haven’t posted since Monday and it fills like an eternity for me because I’m used to posting at least 3 days a week. Let’s sit down, grab a fresh cup and let it do what it do!

20180502_152041.jpg

The gym has been a challenge lately with all the change and trying to figure out a new workout program. When you have gotten into a good rhythm with your workout it’s hard to change it up without feeling a little letdown. I’ve been going heavier weights but I notice I don’t seem to be feeling that sense of satisfaction of knowing that I gave everything I have. When lifting heavy I’m so worried about the proper form that I’m not doing as much because I want to avoid injury. So I’ve decided to just go back to my regular routine and just move up in weight progressively until I get comfy in the higher weights. The other change is I am doing more walking outdoors for stamina. To make it challenging I have been picking a distance and making myself do more and more each week so that I can get used to carrying my weight for long distances. I figure if your my size you should use your weight as an advantage and while I’m walking I know I burn tons more calories than the average person.lol. For now, I’m doing my walks 3 days a week and doing 1 session of cardio in the gym with machines just to change up the pace. I’ve been bringing my camera along and taking pictures so you know I’ll be sharing as I go on more and more walks.

Screenshot_20180519-122027.jpg

I have been really examining my diet closely as well and I feel like I can do a lot better with limiting my carbs and adding back in more green leafy veggies like back in the day. I’ve been doing Carnivore Keto and while I dig the quicker fat loss I’m finding that my body doesn’t feel as good as when I have my smoothies and salads. So I’m bringing back my smoothies and salads! lol. The grocery haul this week includes my good ole friend cauliflower which I will be using to give my eating routine some more flavor. I also bought some magnesium citrate and some lite salt to make some Ketoaide to help with my fasting. This week I’m thinking of having more chicken and vegetable casseroles and a few vegetarian dishes because I have been eating a good amount of meat but maybe not enough healthy fats. I love delicious food and it certainly helps to have a way of eating that allows you to eat the foods you already love but after a while, the palate wants more and I will give it what it wants! If any of you have been making some great recipes that are low carb I would love to hear from you, I get so many great ideas by following some of you on Instagram!

I wanted to end the blog writing about a topic I am passionate about. The decision to change! The journey to health and wellness is certainly a difficult one at times. It will truly test your patience and resolve. You will have days and even weeks when you just don’t have it and you miss a scheduled workout. There will be times when you eat food you know is completely against your diet. Further, there will be mood swings and real-life situations that will have you all in your feelings as it’s called. Just keep in mind that when you have changed those times will not beat you because you will get back. When you have made the decision to change your next meal after 2 weeks of binging will be the healthiest one you could make. When you make the decision to change it is important to remember that you don’t stop being change because you slip up or stumble, no! no! no!  When you make the decision to change, YOU ARE CHANGE! Change takes over and it will bring you back to good, back to where you have decided you want to be, this is precisely why change requires so much because once you have made that decision, you BECOME that CHANGE.

CHANGE IS INSIDE OF YOU!

YOU ARE CHANGE

I AM CHANGE

WE ARE CHANGE

I believe in each and every one of you just like I believe in me and I know that we all can be who we want to be, how we want to be! Have a great day homies!

TRUE GRIT

Screenshot_20180507-111125.jpg

Good morning and happy Monday everyone! it is a beautiful day here in the southwest and I hope that wherever you are there are sunny and clear skies abound. This morning I had a great talk with my girl about happiness. It’s always a great idea to make sure if you’re going to spend the rest of your life with someone, that you continue to go over and examine what happiness is and if you both are on the same page! I’m blessed to have a person in my life who truly cares and loves me enough to have those types of conversations on the regular. Today is a great blessing and thank the lord that we never get what we deserve but what he blesses us with! With that said let’s get this underway.

Screenshot_20180507-111216.jpg

This weekend I made sure to hit the gym hard because I’m getting back into my gym routine and making sure my body still has what it takes to handle the challenge! So far all systems go as I have been blowing thru my workouts at a good clip. In fact today I will change my focus slightly and do heavier weights with fewer reps so that my body can burn more calories. I’m still not doing all free weights just yet because I’m still trying to figure some things out however I have been going and really focusing on maximum effort! Since I’m working chest and triceps today I will be trying to warm up properly but really get in a hard and heavy lift! The most exciting part is I may be trying out some new lifts today on machines I’ve never done before. My body may not be happy right away but I’m counting on it to adjust as always and produce for me.lol. Lately, I haven’t been doing my stairs as cardio because I’m starting to do more distance walking in the mornings starting this week! My knees and joints need to get accustomed to walking around a lot more if I’m ever going to truly get my stamina and endurance up!

My diet has been horrible this week! I say that because while my meals have been keto I’m still going over my caloric intake limit. I’ve also noticed that lately I’m hungry a lot more and fasting has become more and more difficult! These signs let me know that I am not as focused on my nutrition as I should be because before I went to Cali my hunger was super low and my fasting was effortless! The time has come to get back to basics with my diet. The formula always works which means that I have developed some bad habits along the way that are derailing my progress so I’m going back to square one. Keeping my carbs below 35g daily and maximizing my fat burning potential with protein and healthy fats! Going to bed at a decent and consistent time and getting at least 8 hours in! Going back to no food after 7 p.m unless it can’t be helped and certainly no bites of candy here and there. Meal prepping foods that are delicious and Macro specific to my goals and cutting out snacking. It’s pretty simple on paper I’m just refocusing.

Screenshot_20180507-111335.jpg

I’m struggling with my focus but that will happen in life. The important thing about it is not staying unfocused, not staying down or falling short! As long as I’m honest with myself that I can always do something about it, and there’s the lesson! No matter what we are going thru we have to take responsibility and control and realize that the only way to stay on track is to stay aware of whats working or not working. I’m not going back to who I was and the dream may get blurry but it will never fade! This is my life and I’m the one that needs to keep focused! I love you all and the truth is I love myself too, I love myself enough to be a better man! Have an amazing day homies and thanks for being my support system.

Self-love Deposits Homies

Screenshot_20180503-055911.jpg

Good morning, What yall know about us reaching another glorious Thursday? How real is that? Today, not only are we one day away from Friday but it’s my favorite day of the week, nobody hates on Thursday’s homies! Today I wish you a renewed passion and love for all the things in life you enjoy and love! Find a reason and a way to be happy because it’s a decision and it starts from the time you wake up till the time you lay it down! I got you If you need any encouragement and love this morning just hit me up!lol. So let’s get into what’s going down and what’s already transpired ya dig?

Screenshot_20180503-055804.jpg

Screenshot_20180503-043806.jpg

Yesterday I hit the gym on that first real workout since I been back from the west coast and I must admit that having a little break from the gym has really helped! My muscles had a chance to relax and recover from my constant pulling and pushing and it was much needed! It’s also very important to step back once and awhile because when you re-engage you realize just how hard your workout really is which will allow you to assess and see if you need to go harder or change up the workout!  This week I decided instead of changing everything I would simply change the time I workout and add a second workout to my day. This fine Thursday saw me rise and grind at 4 a.m and hit the gym for a quick cardio session, later today I’ll go back and do a back and bicep workout and try a few new lifts so I can slowly change my routine. The reason for the change is so that I can get a jump on the day but also concentrate on my writing early in the morning. Hopefully, this will lead to a more productive day and increase my fat loss at the same time! I AM CHANGE remember that? That’s me and that’s the approach you need to take sometimes if you’re looking for a different and more fruitful return on your efforts. Going to the gym is fun but I’m not just in it for fun but RESULTS, if that’s not the goal then I’m just wasting time and money ya know?

Lately, my grub game(diet) has been all over the place but in a good way. I’ve been narrowing down my variety and focusing more on the simple, tried and true keto meals I know and love! For example yesterday I found this cauliflower hash veggie mix at Kroger and I added it to some ground sausage to make some delicious crackslaw! If you read my blog then you know I love this stuff and it’s so easy even a dude like me can do it! My coffee is a must when I’m keto strong and I’ve been using less Keto meal and doing coconut oil, MCT oil and Kerrygold butter in my cup of joe. It’s a great way to get in good healthy fats without taking a hit in the carb department! I’ve been doing zero snacking because I’m at my best when I have 2 large meals a day and fast for at least 16-18 hours daily. My water game has stayed on point and if I don’t get at least 6 to 8 glasses of water my body feels dry like a desert for real! My ceiling for carbs in a day is 50 and that’s higher than regular therapeutic keto but again it works for me so that’s what I’m doing. Tonight I’m having baked chicken and probably lamb from the freezer with a green monster shake, like my son Marcus always says “It ain’t hard, it’s easy!” So stay steady and stay down and the results will take care of themselves!

Did you know we all have an unbelievable dept to pay? We are in debt to ourselves and we owe dues on the regular to the bank of self-love and worth. It is absolutely your responsibility to pay yourself in full with all the self-love and praise you can level. The vaults of your happiness should be full of capital! Make regular deposits and you will keep earning dividends that will benefit not only you but everyone around you! That’s some financial responsibility for your ass right there! lol. Enjoy your day and help someone else enjoy theirs!

And here we are back to Friday and I hope you all are excited about the weekend! The end of the work week and now you get a chance to relax and enjoy some fun and comfort this weekend! Hopefully, you all have plans to do something you love to do this weekend. If you happen to work weekends that’s o.k too I hope you truly enjoy the days you have off this week no matter which ones. Time is the one thing we can never ever get back so please take time to do things for yourself and that bring peace and renewal to your spirit!

I have amazing news! So yesterday was the end of the month weigh in for me and I’m happy to report the great news! Since Monday I have lost 7 pounds doing this meat only diet isn’t that crazy? I have lost several inches around my waist and thighs and all the numbers look great! The most important thing is I feel really amazing! It really didn’t matter how much I lost(although I’m super happy) for me the most important thing is how I feel. It doesn’t do any good if we are improving and getting better if we don’t feel better! That’s such a big deal because when things don’t go our way or the scale doesn’t move it’s important that we can say we feel good! I’m very happy with my numbers this month and the fat loss so far but I can do better. Maybe not lose as much but I can do better with looking for times to do cardio and being more active in my everyday activities! I’m proud of myself because I feel like I am taking control of this part of my life and it has truly been a blessing to have a little success sprinkled in to help validate that I’m doing what’s necessary for my goals to get accomplished! Just an update to let yall know how the journey is going and I’ll be continuing to post my results weekly as well as monthly.

My body was absolutely exhausted yesterday so I took the day off from the gym and decided to lift today and Saturday so that I still get the work in. It’s chest day and I couldn’t be happier because with the extra rest I should be able to get that weight up and down will no problem.lol. The schedule this week has been crazy so I’m not sure if we are going to swim or not but I’ll make it up with the bike or stairs whatever it takes. I’ve noticed some cool changes with my body lately. The outline of the muscle that I have been toning is starting to come through and I know I feel a lot stronger than before! the gym has been a game changer for me and I know it’s not for everyone I would encourage anyone thinking about joining one to do so!

O.K. so my diet and all that meat I have been eating. This all meat thing is something that has obviously been very successful so far, I mean 7 pounds in 4 days is pretty crazy! The only problem I have is that I’m not sure how much credit the way of eating should get because I changed some other things. For instance, I have been drinking at least 80 to 100 o.z of water daily and that’s not normal for me but it’s important. On top of that, I have been doing stairs as apart of my routine which is something that’s fairly new. If you add those 2 things to the lifting I already do then I’m not sure how much the diet is responsible for. Let me say this, it seems that eating this way at least allows for my body to get into ketosis faster and when combined with intermittent fasting seems to have a great benefit. Again I can’t see me just eating meat for the long haul but it’s nice to have another tool in the fat loss toolbox ya know? Today I’ll break my fast with some shredded chicken breast that I have in the slow cooker as we speak. The plan is to shred it up and put it in a casserole dish and put cheese and pepperoni on top like a pizza! I saw it on Pinterest and I had to try it so I’ll let you know how it turns out. I’m not sure what we are having for dinner tonight but I think we are doing something else with chicken thighs, some type of soup or broccoli casserole maybe. I am extremely happy with the fat loss but honestly, I can’t wait to get some veggies in my life and that’s just not something I would ever normally say! Lmao.

Screenshot_20180323-083206.jpg

I just want to say thank you for all you have done to help me along this journey. The fact that you have all kept up with me and had words of encouragement humbles me to my core! Without a shadow of a doubt, this all would not be possible without the love and support and I just want to take this moment to say thank you all for being such a blessing in my life! Enjoy your weekend and please if I can be of service let me know!

I’m Doing What?

Middle of the week and the first 2 days blew by pretty quick! It is snowing here and they just called school off for like the 10th time so far this year! It’s not their fault because where we live the main road are usually o.k but in this county, there are some really tough back country roads that people live on and they are just unreachable in those areas! I personally love snow so it’s no big deal for me but the kids are going to be going to school all summer to make up all these damn days they are missing! It is a glorious day and I get to spend time with my family and the fact that they are safe is all that really matters so it’s all good!

Screenshot_20180321-061254.jpg

Yesterday I hit the gym at my regular time and killed the workout! Whenever I work back and biceps I always seem to work so much harder than when I do chest and biceps. Yesterday was no different because I was sweating like a pig while I pumped the weights! I’m telling you guys if you limit the amount of time you give yourself between reps it doesn’t matter so much how heavy the weight is you really can feel a difference! The volume of reps I get in is insane and I notice that it feels like I’m getting a little cardio while I lift! Today I’m off from the gym but it’s a full cardio day which means I’ll be hitting those damn stairs and walking around as much as possible. We didn’t get to swim last night so I may go to the gym tonight and do an additional cardio session because I have to pick my girl up late from work tonight! Last week when I did stairs I got to about 20 flights so the deal is every week I have to do few more. Today I’ll see if I can spread them bad boys out throughout the day for real, they absolutely kill my legs but they are a great cardio workout and the handles on the sides help to cheat a little if I’m winded.lol.

O.k. so I was waiting a few days before I said anything because I wasn’t 100 percent sure I was going to try doing it but I am. I’m doing a week of MEAT ONLY this week. I’ve been doing some research about the Carnivore diet which consists of mostly meats and little to no veggies and carbs. There is no way I can see myself adopting this way of eating for the long term however I have been very curious about some of the claims that people who eat this way say they experience. I’ve heard that they feel less inflammation in their joints and they experience a greater clarity and strength throughout their day. I figured since I’ve lowered my carbs to 30g and below a week that this isn’t that much of a difference for me! Today is day 3 and I have to tell you while it’s far too early to declare how effective it is I will say that I feel hella light this morning! My workouts haven’t been affected that much because I usually workout fasted anyway. The surprising thing to me is I’m not experiencing any heartburn or constipation which I figured were going to be side effects. It’s certainly helped with my water consumption so far this week! I can’t front yall other than it being a tad boring in the food variety department I feel really great this morning! They tell me that the 3rd day is kind of difficult so I’m going to wait and see but I’ll certainly stick it out until weigh-in day and see how I feel.

I checked the calendar and I have exactly 5 weeks before I take the long and adventurous road trip to visit my kids in California! I am so very happy to be able to see them because it feels like such a long time because I live so far. I will be working my ass off to be in the best shape I can possibly be in so that I can show them a great time on my visit! I love them so very much and they make me feel so very blessed! If you wanna know why I am so happy all the time it’s because I am blessed so much with great kids and an amazing fiance’. It’s not me, it’s all of them and God has chosen me to be apart of these wonderful folks lives and I wouldn’t want to be anyone else on this earth! It’s not the fat loss journey that defines me it’s these wonderful people along with my family and friends that humble me and bring me joy! The key to life isn’t what we are striving for, it’s appreciating the things we already have and cherishing the blessings that show up every day that we readily accept as normal. The key is having a roof, the key is having someone who loves you, the key is being of service to those around you, the key is showing love no matter what happens! That’s a lot of Keys on the chain but if you carry those around with you and you truly appreciate the doors they open, they will lead you to all the love you always wanted, the happiness you deserve and the strength to open those doors for others!

I wish you love today and I pray that you give yourself praise and love, you deserve it!
